Today Cygames hosted a long livestream about its upcoming JRPG Granblue Fantasy: Relink, including plenty of interesting information about what you can expect.

First of all, we get a roadmap for the first three free updates coming to the game. We already knew that the Eternals Seofon and Tweyen would come as playable characters with an update in April.

Yet, it turns out that will be version 1.2.0, not the first major update. Version 1.1.0 will be released in early March and will include a multiplayer battle against Lucilius. It's said to be "incredibly" challenging.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink Update Schedule

This boss fight is not part of the story, so you don't need to complete it to get the full experience.

Yet, that's not all, as update 1.3.0 will come in May, albeit its content has not been announced. This is currently everything that is planned.

Director Tetsuya Fukuhara emphasized that the game will not be a live service game. Despite the fact that there will be updates, the game will be a fully realized, complete package at release.

The updates focus on expanding the base game with extra content for players who want more.

We also get news about the demo, which was announced at Granblue Fantasy Fest in December. We knew it was coming in January, but now we know exactly when and it's on the 12th at midnight in each region. It's basically in a few hours.

Fukuhara-san apologized to players on PC, who unfortunately won't get the demo. It's only for PS5 and PS4.

It'll include a Tutorial Mode, a Story Mode, and a Quest Mode with three different quests that can be played offline or online with friends.

Characters playable in the demo are Gran, Katalina, Rackam, Io, Charlotta, Ghandagoza, Narmaya, Lancelot, Siegfried, Yodarha, and Zeta,

They all have different banter with each other, so players are encouraged to try them all. Assist mode will be available for players who aren't familiar with action games.

Completing the Story Mode and Quest mode will net you small bonuses for the full game.

We also get to see the ability to recolor your characters with color packs. You can use them both in multiplayer and in single-player.

The three color packs are included in the Deluxe Edition the Special Edition, and the Digital Deluxe Edition alongside the Fakse Sword of the Apocalypse for Gran and Djeeta and a Starter Item Pack with some consumables.

Unfortunately, we learn that there won't be any cross-play between PlayStation and Steam. PS5 and PS4 users will be able to play together, but Steam users will remain segregated.

If you like streaming, you'll be able to include the music from the game and still be able to monetize your videos on Twitch.

That being said, the developers are asking players to include spoiler warnings in the description of their streams if they are going to stream the story in the early access period between January 29 and January 31.

Of course, the livestream also included plenty of gameplay, both in single and multiplayer. You can watch it in full below. It comes with English subtitles but you may have to activate them manually with the "cc" button.

Lastly, if you have a Granblue Fantasy: Relink save game on your platform, it'll unlock a premium avatar portraying the antagonist Id in the fighting game Granblue Fantasy Versus: Risingwhich launched successfully last month.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink is going to be officially released on February 1, 2024, for PS5, PS4, and PC. If you'd like a physical copy, you can pre-order one on Amazon.
