Chinese developer Kuro Game is continuing the development of Wuthering Waves, an action RPG that many have identified as a serious Genshin Impact competitor, and a new closed beta is coming.

Recruitment for the beta is already available on the official site, with the window of opportunity ending on February 7.

The beta will happen on PC, iOS, and Android, but the start and end times will be announced at a later date.

All saved data will be reset at the end of the beta and no microtransactions will be available. Supported languages are English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.

While the final game will include English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese voice-overs, the closed bets won't include voices just yet.

Interestingly, when the beta launches, there won't be an NDA, so players will be able to record gameplay and publish videos and livestreams, for those who can't participate but would still like to take a look. Of course, the developers remind that the build used for the beta won't be representative of the final game.

Speaking of taking a look, a new trailer has been released, and it certainly looks quite spectacular, providing a good look at the cast of playable characters and their flashy moves.

You can watch it below.

A first closed beta was held in 2023 and if you want to see more, you can watch a video detailing monster capture,  another trailer alongside plenty of gameplay, a trailer introducing the character Sanua, and another focusing on Danjin

While I couldn't get a chance to play yet, I took a look at Wuthering Waves at several events, and it certainly looks promising.

Whether it'll manage to cut for itself a slice of the increasingly crowded free-to-play Chinese market or not, remains to be seen, and the new closed beta will be a good chance to take the pulse of its state of development.
