Today, following the award ceremony of the Grand Finals of the SNK World Cup 2023, the Osaka-based developer shared new trailers of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves alongside a release window.
We learned that the game is coming in early 2025. While there's still a long wait ahead of us, we now have a better idea of how long it'll be.
At the moment, the platforms for the game have not been announced, and we'll likely have to wait a little more to know which consoles will get the game.
The first trailer shows Rock Howard and Andy Bogard (who were showcased in the previous trailer) as they duke it out in a match, and we get a list of mechanics we can expect. Specifically, we see a Revving Gauge, "Rev Guardd," "Rev Blow," "Rev Arts," and "Rev Accel."
You can check it out below.
The second trailer, introduced directly by chief producer Yasuyuki Oda, is perhaps even more exciting. It focuses on the characters and on top of showing Rock Howard and Andy Bogard, it reveals Hotaru Futaba, Tizoc, and Preecha.
While Hotaru Futaba and Tizoc are returning characters, Preecha (portrayed at the top of the post) is brand new, and she's the first new character revealed for the game.
You can watch the trailer below with English voice overs and the Japanese version on the official YouTube channel.
Interestingly, Oda-san mentioned that the game will be playable at EVO Japan, so those who are interested in an early demo, may want to consider attending.
If you’re unfamiliar with Fatal Fury (Garou Densetsu in Japanese), it’s one of SNK’s classic fighting game series from the NeoGeo era. It debuted all the way back in 1991, and the latest game (Garou: Mark of the Wolves) released in 1999. Fans have been waiting for a new title for a long time.
Although The King of Fighters series has featured a number of Fatal Fury characters it has not matched Garou Densetsu's narrative depth and complex plot.
Incidentally, the King of Fighters XV tournament at the SWC was won by Laggia in an all-Japan grand final against M'.
In other recent SNK news, the developer teased a new Art of Fighting game in the works, while it has partnered with Arika to bring back some of its non-fighting franchises.
