SNK is currently working on bringing back the Fatal Fury series, but that's not all, as revealed today by producer Yasuyuki Oda.

In a group interview published by the Japanese magazine Famitsu, Oda-san revealed that the popular fighting game developer is also working on something related to Art of Fighting.

Specifically, Oda-san mentions that at the new office in the Shin-Osaka area, SNK is also working on other projects besides Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, including Ryuuko no Ken.

If you're not familiar with the name, Ryuuko no Ken is the Japanese title of the series known in the West as Art of Fighting.

It debuted in 1992 with Art of Fighting, followed in 1994 by its sequel, and in 1996 by Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior.

The games of the series have been re-released in several formats for recent consoles and PC, but no completely new game has been released since.

Characters from the franchise have also appeared in other SNK series, like The King of Fighters

At the moment, Oda-san has provided no further information on the nature of this Art of Fighting project, so we'll have to wait and see. He did mention that SNK is hiring new staff to work on its games.

Speaking of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Oda-san says that 2024 is the year in which the game will be unveiled.

We also heard from project supervisor Nobuyuki Kuroki mentioned that SNK will continue to strengthen recruitment in 2024 and is working on the game while considering the reactions to the trailer revealed at EVO 2023.

On top of that, he said that the release date is still a while away. At the moment, we don't even really know which platforms it will be released on.

Incidentally, recently we heard that SNK is working on an AAA game at its newly-opened branch in Tokyo as well.

Interestingly, in today's interview, SNK's Second Development Division Manager Kazuhiro Fujishige added that this is intended to be a "new pillar" for the developer, possibly hinting that it's a new IP or even a new genre.
