Far Cry 6 release date delay and Rainbow Six Quarantine release date delay have been announced by Ubisoft in a recent earnings report, pushing back the launch of two big titles until later in 2021 at the minimum.

Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine are two upcoming Ubisoft games in blockbuster franchises. We've known about Rainbow Six Quarantine since E3 2019, but Far Cry 6 was surprisingly revealed at an Ubisoft Forward event and slated for an early 2021 launch. Now, it seems that players looking forward to these games are going to have to wait a while before they can play either of them.

When is the New Far Cry 6 Release Date?

The new Far Cry 6 release date will sometime in 2021 at the earliest, although it's possible that the game can be delayed until 2022.

Far Cry 6 was originally slated for February 8, 2021; a new specific release date has not yet been decided. It could be a short as a couple of months, but Ubisoft might ultimately decide to push the game back as far as 2022.

The Ubisoft earnings report (highlighted by Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad on Twitter) states that the work from home policies enacted during the COVID-19 pandemic have slowed production. While the development of Far Cry 6 has been proceeding at a good pace, Ubisoft is concerned that it won't be able to "leverage [its] full potential" without a delay.

When is the New Rainbow Six Quarantine Release Date?

As with Far Cry 6, the Rainbow Six Quarantine release date has also been delayed to 2021 at the earliest. This game may be delayed to 2022 as well; Ubisoft leaves the door open for affording its developers additional time to get Rainbow Six Quarantine ready for prime time.

Why are these games being delayed? Commentary from Ubisoft executives indicate that the company shouldn't have any issues hitting its sales targets that were predicted earlier in the year; this means that any income from these two titles would have been a bonus. While higher earnings for this year would have been great for stock prices, that would have created a problem later on down the line with a potential gap in the company's content release schedule.

In short, the Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine release date delay has been decided to ensure that both games are of good quality and to ensure that Ubisoft has strong sales for Fiscal Year 2021. If everything goes well, players will be able to get both games sometime next year.
