Yesterday the new 1.5 update for Fallout 4 released to Steam Beta users. Announced via Fallout 4's Steam news page the full release notes were posted with some extra information about the future updates to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the games too.

The post begins by explaining that the Creation Kit and mod manager are still in closed beta but they hope to add it to the 1.5 beta soon for PC. Only after the 1.5 update is released on all systems will consoles be getting access to mods. The news on when official mod support will begin will be first heard about over at Bethesda.net and we'll stay on top of that news for you.

The 1.5 update of Fallout 4 will include the Survival Mode. In this mode there will be a variety of added challenges including no fast travel, restricting your saving ability to when you are asleep, as well as increasing "lethality, diseases, fatigue, danger and more." Any character that you make in this mode will also appear under a different character selection filter so you can see who is in a regular play through and who is in survival. There has also been an improvement to the third person camera when you are near a wall or other objects.

There is a warning attached with the 1.5 beta update in relation to the survival mode though as these survival characters are not compatible with the stable 1.4 release of the game. This means that if you opt out of the Beta and your game rolls back to an earlier version you cannot use your survival character saved games until it is out of beta. Additionally they offer a word of caution about third party mod managers and to disable and back them up until they have been updated to support and work with the 1.5 update.

As well as the large survival update there are also a variety of other fixes including lighting issues, camera issues, quest bugs and many more.

Are you in the Beta program? Are you excited to try your hand at Fallout 4 Survival Mode? Let us know in the comments below.
