Fable Fortune, a collectible card game based on the Fable series of games, will be leaving Early Access on February 22, 2018, and switching to a free-to-play model according to a news post on the game's Steam Community page.
The Fable series of games have a focus on choosing between good or evil, and those mechanics translate through to the collectible card game developed by Mediatonic & Flaming Fowl Studios. While quite a few CCGs focus on creating decks around a certain strategy, Fable Fortune allows you multiple chances to branch out into a different path based on your choices in the course of a match and change up how you play the game. A deliberate effort has been made to minimize randomness in the game, a hallmark of many CCGs on the market (both digital & print). Players can currently pick from one of six distinct heroes to play as.
At the moment, Fable Fortune is in Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview. Purchasing a Founder's Pack will net you 20 card packs, the Chicken Vengeant Founder's Card, and the Giant Egg Fabled Card. Details on the pricing model for the free-to-play version are scarce, but a press release makes mention of a Daily Bounties system that will probably work similar to questing systems in other CCGs that let you earn cards or other rewards.
A Road-To-Release Log-In event is currently underway for people who already own the game. Logging in at the following times will net you these rewards:
- 9:00 AM Eastern on Monday, February 19, 2018 - 9:00 AM Eastern on Tuesday, February 20th: Fancy Crazy Cat Lady
- 7:00 PM Eastern on Monday, February 19, 2018 - 6:59 PM Eastern on Tuesday, February 20, 2018: Fancy Restless Spirit
- 7:00 PM Eastern on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 - 6:59 PM Eastern on Wednesday, February 21, 2018: Fancy Bloody Augur and a Fancy Card Pack.
