There's some not so groovy news from Saber Interactive -- Evil Dead: The Game has had its release date delayed by three months to 2022.
Classic horror fans are well familiar with "Ash" Williams, the protagonist of the B-movie horror franchise The Evil Dead. The character was rumored to feature in Mortal Kombat 11 as a playable character; sadly, this character never made his debut in that franchise for unknown reasons.
However, there was nonetheless some good news for Evil Dead fans: Ash and his boomstick was going to star in his very own game coming to PC and consoles. That game ended up getting delayed to February 2022 last summer -- and now, it's been delayed yet again to later this year.
When is the Evil Dead: The Game Release Date?
The Evil Dead: The Game release date is now May 13, 2022, according to an announcement on the game's official Twitter account.
"Hey Evil Dead fans!" read a tweet on the game's official account (via ResetEra). "When we set out to create a brand new game worthy of the Evil Dead franchise, we knew it had to be groovy as hell. In order to deliver the best possible experience, Evil Dead: The Game is now coming on May 13, 2022."
"This delay gives our team the time they need to get things just right, so your boomstick will be polished, fully loaded, and ready to blast Deadites on that Friday the 13th of May. We thank you for your patience and understanding."
While that might be disappointing, it's certainly better to give the devs the time they need to get this game right the first time around. On the upside, we'll be able to watch a brand-new trailer arriving sometime next month. (And hey, a Friday the 13th launch day is absolutely poetic for Ash.) For now, you can learn more about Evil Dead: The Game on its official website.
