An Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes release date has finally been announced.

During today's Nintendo Direct presentation, a new trailer for the hotly-anticipated RPG was revealed, and it contained the release date you've been waiting for: April 24th next year. Hopefully, that release date doesn't just apply to the Switch version.

It's been a long road; Eiyuden Chronicle originally debuted via Kickstarter back in 2020 and was targeting a fall 2022 release at that point.

Intriguingly enough, the game was also scheduled to launch on "Nintendo's next-generation console" at one stage, which was conspicuous by its absence during today's Nintendo Direct.

In any case, the game was subsequently delayed beyond 2022 so that the studio could polish the game and expand the scope of various elements, then delayed again earlier this year to ensure "the best game experience possible".

Thankfully, it now seems to be back on track, meaning that Suikoden fans don't just have the upcoming remasters of Suikoden I and II to look forward to in 2024.

If you've missed out on Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, it's a spiritual successor to the Suikoden series of cult classic JRPGs.

Just like in Suikoden, you'll build your very own headquarters and recruit a diverse cast of heroes, each of which brings something new to your HQ.

As you play, you'll be sucked into a story of intrigue and danger surrounding the dastardly Empire's search for an artifact that will help them consolidate their power.

If you love Suikoden, you'll likely feel right at home with Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, which adapts many of that series' systems, including its turn-based combat, visual style, and even seemingly one-to-one duel battles.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes launches on April 24th.

The spin-off game Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is also currently available and offers the chance to earn rewards that will carry over into the full game, although our reviewer James Bentley was somewhat lukewarm on the game.
