Square Enix released a cute video focusing on the story of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince and its connection with Dragon Quest IV.
The protagonist of the upcoming monster-collecting JRPG by Square Enix is Psaro, who was an antagonist in Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen.
The video, drawn in cute picture book style, and narrated by the slime Surapuru (voiced by Maria Naganawa) tells the story of DQ4, but it does from the point of view of the protagonist of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince.
Written by the series' creator Yuji Horii himself, the video is all about Psaro and Rose, who also appears in both games, as they struggle with the conflict against the human heroes.
We also get to see the familiar heroes from IV, the hero himself, Maya, Meena, Torneko, Alena, Kyril, Borya, and Ragnar McRyan.
It's certainly very nostalgic and sheds more light on the connection between the two games.
You can watch it below, and while it's in Japanese, Square Enix added English subtitles for our perusal. Just remember to activate them if they aren't already.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince will be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch on December 1, 2023.
