The prolific Japanese developer Nippon Ichi Software loves teasing new games with mysterious images, countdowns, and teaser websites, and they're at it again.
This time around, the developer, which is based in Kakamigahara, Gifu Prefecture, announced that the reveal will come via a trailer that will premiere at 10 p.m. Japan time on Monday, November 20, 2023.
This means that Western fans will know what this is all about at 5:00 a.m. PST, 8:00 a.m. EST, 1:00 p.m. GMT, or 2:00 p.m. CET depending on where they live.
The only hint so far is the image above, which appears as a thumbnail for the scheduled video (which you can find embedded below). Avid fans likely will find it familiar, as it was printed on a greeting card sent last summer, which had the message "coming soon."
This is not the first time Nippon Ichi uses its seasonal greeting cards to tease new games, and on Monday we'll finally know what this is all about.
Considering the fact that we see a character with horns, some may think that this is related to a new Disgaea game or spin-off, but we have no real way to know besides waiting for the official reveal.
Nippon Ichi Software (which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year) is well-known for games that are very quirky and creative, often steering very clear from the norm of what one would expect from a relatively large developer and publisher.
For instance, the company recently launched the training JRPG Xicatrice, which still doesn't have a Western release or even the announcement of a localization.
Speaking of localization, whatever is announced on Monday may possibly come west courtesy of NIS America, which is the Santa Ana-based western subsidiary of Nippon Ichi and acts as its publishing arm for the western markets.
