Nippon Ichi Software released a new video about its newest upcoming JRPG, titled Xicatrice.

We get to take a look at the core gameplay mechanics of the game, starting with the education portion of the game, in which we'll lead each student to learn the skills they need in combat. Combat is the next portion of the game, and the missions are played in typical dungeon-crawling JRPG fashion.

Next, we can take a look at how we can customize characters and even combine skills to create powerful attacks to use in battle. Lastly, we get a glimpse of storytelling, focused on helping each student face their crippling issues.

You can check the trailer out below, alongside another also showcasing gameplay from a few weeks ago

If you're not familiar with the game, Xicatrice is coming to PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch, with a Japanese release scheduled on June 29. It was teased and then almost immediately announced in February.

The title is defined as an "Abnormal Powers X School JRPG"  and it's a JRPG with time management elements in which the player is a teacher who leads a special unit of students to perform dangerous missions. It focuses on the freedom of character development among a vast variety of skills, allowing each player to enjoy different strategies.

You will have to overcome challenges together with seven students who have awakened their supernatural powers and suffered emotional scars as a consequence. The title "Xicatrice" aptly derives from the French word "Cicatrice," which means "Scar."

At the moment, no Western release has been announced, but we can likely expect NIS America to handle the localization at some point. As you may or may not know, NIS America is Nippon Ichi Software's western publishing arm and it localizes nearly all of the Gifu-based developer's games.

If you'd like to hear more, Nippon Ichi also revealed a batch of music tracksanother, and a third.
