Diablo 4 Season of Blood Battle Pass

Today Blizzard Entertainment dated and detailed the upcoming second season of Diablo 4, named Season of Blood.

The new season will launch on October 17, and it's dubbed by the developers as the biggest update for the game since its release in June.

The season, introduced via a rather lengthy livestream will see players team up with a vampire hunter named Erys, voiced by Gemma Chan. The objective is to counter an invasion of vampires.

The players themselves will gain vampiric powers that unlock a variety of skills via a new resource named Potent Blood and Pact Armor.

We'll fight new monsters heralded by the arrival of a powerful vampire named Lord Zir. These include the Blood Seekers, who appear similar to player characters and use tainted class skills in combat.

A roaming event named Blood Harvest will see vampire armies overwhelm areas of the map, allowing players to find plenty of enemies to fight and Potent Blood to earn.

The update will also add 5 endgame bosses, the Beast in the Ice, Dark Master, Varshan, Echo of Duriel, and Grigoire, and the Galvanic Saint.

Below you can take a look at the flow of progression for the season broken down by level.

Diablo 4 Season of Blood Progression

The season will also include a bunch of quality-of-life changes that will likely please many fans.

The main campaign can be skipped immediately after finishing the prologue for those who want to jump into the seasonal content without waiting.

Renown rewards (potion charges, extra skill points, extra paragon points, and murmuring obols) persist between realms and between seasons. The rewards are account-wide and the only split is between hardcore and non-hardcore characters.

XP gain and reaching level 100 is approximately 40% faster compared to the Season of the Malignant.

Players will be able to teleport directly inside Nightmare Dungeons where they'll find increased monster density, NPC companions with better survivability, and fewer cases in which one has to backtrack.

A new Boss Ladder lets you farm the endgame bosses mentioned above to earn unique and uber unique items at a much higher rate. On top of that, Legion Events and World Bosses will see their spawn rate increase.

The developers also implemented item and inventory management improvements, like the ability to stack gems as crafting materials. Changes to the Scrolls of Escape have been made to prevent players from losing hardcore characters due to connectivity issues.

Mounts have been changed, making them faster, more agile, and able to charge through blockades, More changes also include updates to towns, improvements to events, and tweaks to elemental resistances, and status effects, on top of new UI features.

Diablo 4 is currently available for PC via Battle Net, PS5, PS4  Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

A Steam version has just been announced and will be released at the same time as Season of Blood on October 17.
