One of the more enthusiastic reveals during Sony's "The Future of Gaming" event was Destruction AllStars, a game that looks like it carries on the spirit of Twisted Metal with a new kind of flavor.

Check out this all-new demolition derby game in the Destruction AllStars Announcement Trailer:

From what we can see of the game, players will hop into a futuristic demolition derby in an arena riddled with ramps, traps, and other drivers. Cars move at a crazy-fast pace, and both the cars and the drivers have a colorful, futuristic design that evokes a unique style.

Unlike some demolition derby games, you can be catapulted out of your car and stuck on foot. That's not the end of your fight, though — you'll have to try to dodge everyone else before you get turned into a fine paste by a monster truck. It's unclear if it will be possible for players to recover after being booted out of their car or if they will have to endure a loser's penalty similar to the end of round slaughter in Team Fortress 2.

Even then, you still might not be safe. We see players on foot execute high-flying jumps and rapid rolls, but we also see one instance of one driver jump-kicking another into an oncoming car.

When is the Destruction AllStars Release Date?

This might not be quite the new Twisted Metal game that some people were hoping for, but it does have an interesting style all its own. When will you be able to play it?

Unfortunately, we don't have much more in the way for details on Destruction Allstars just yet — the announcement didn't even give us a release date. This game will be a PlayStation exclusive and will release at some point in the future.

What do you think of Destruction AllStars? Would you have rather had a new Twisted Metal game instead of this? Let us know in the comments below!
