Ghost Ship Games has revealed more info on how the upcoming Deep Rock Galactic season reactivation feature will work.
The game's fifth season is on its way, and as part of that season, you'll be able to activate previous seasons and earn the rewards they offered if you want to.
The studio says that implementing this feature will requre "a few structural changes" to Deep Rock Galactic, but that this isn't as alarming as it sounds; "nothing's going away", as Ghost Ship says.
In a new Q&A posted on the Deep Rock Galactic Steam page, Ghost Ship breaks down exactly what season reactivation will mean for the game and what it'll involve.
Essentially, you'll be prompted to choose which season you want from a new tab on the Season Terminal. After selecting a season, you'll then be able to play games with friends or randoms just as you normally would.
Other Deep Rock Galactic players don't have to be playing the same season as you to join your game, and each player will progress through their respective season during games.
Seasons will also still feature enemies and events from previous seasons, although "probabilities will be adjusted to reflect the focus of each season", according to Ghost Ship.
If you played previous seasons, Deep Rock Galactic will remember how far through them you were, so you'll pick up right where you left off.
In short, Ghost Ship says you don't need to do anything to prepare for Season 5 and this change in the way things work, but it's definitely worth reading the full Q&A just to make sure you won't miss out on anything.
Deep Rock Galactic is a multiplayer shooter in which players band together to battle hordes of enemies in a series of dwarven cave complexes.
Developed by Ghost Ship Games and published by Coffee Stain, the game also received its first major spinoff recently in the form of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, an auto-shooter that even comes with its very own roadmap.
You can check out Deep Rock Galactic right now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
