Unsurprisingly after GOG managed to leak the information, CD Projekt RED's Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty expansion was showcased at the Xbox Games Showcase and it was revealed when it will release and how much it will cost.
The expansion will feature the return of Johnny Silverhand as portrayed by Keanu Reeves, as well as introduce Idris Elba. It will feature an entirely new area, Dogtown, and you will rescue the new president of the New United States of America.
In the trailer, V has a bomb ticking in her head, and she is approached by someone who may be able to disarm the bomb in her head. The expansion then features a mission, to save the President of the new USA, going horribly wrong and things spiraling out of control as you try to deal with a variety of shifting alliances in a political thriller type of experience. Included in the expansion is a variety of new quests, gigs, and items, as well as a new relic skill tree.
The Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty release date is September 26th, 2023 and it can be pre-ordered now. It is CD Projekt RED's most expensive expansion at $30, as much as both of the Witcher 3 expansions combined.
First revealed last year, the company revealed during earning calls that promotion for the Phantom Liberty would begin in June as we've now seen. The company is hoping this will help Cyberpunk 2077 turn the final corner into being an evergreen title like The Witcher 3, and avoid a repeat of the disastrous launch of the base game.
Previews for the expansion should be coming soon as Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty was at Summer Game Fest Play Days for press letting them get hands-on with the expansion. This includes some of our own team, so you should expect to see that soon.
