We finally have some info on what to expect from the first Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, and it's taking a fairly interesting turn. It's slated for 2023, so players will have until then to practice their martini cocktail guzzling, because they'll be turning into a spy once Phantom Liberty releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Stadia.
What can I expect from the first Cyberpunk 2077 expansion?
In the teaser trailer, V swears to "faithfully serve the New United States of America", which Keanu Reeves's Johnny Silverhand apparently doesn't like at all, calling it a "bad idea". The expansion is described as a spy thriller and will be set in an all-new district of Night City.
That's not much to go on, but given that the title of the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion is Phantom Liberty, it's probably safe to assume that the liberty that V is trying to defend isn't what she thinks it is. As a spy thriller, players should expect a narrative that hopefully makes them question what exactly they're fighting for and who they should support, but we'll just have to see if CD Projekt Red can continue the redemption tour since Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch.
What else is coming to Cyberpunk 2077?
In other related news, the just-released Cyberpunk 2077 1.6 patch will be the last patch supported by last-gen consoles. Future updates will bring a complete overhaul of the police system along with overhauled vehicle-to-vehicle combat. Basically, if you're still playing on a last-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 for some reason, you should probably upgrade sooner rather than later.
