If you've finished The Callisto Protocol and you're itching for another go-around, then the latest update is for you. New Game Plus has arrived in Striking Distance's third-person horror adventure, along with a range of performance improvements and bug fixes designed to smooth out the experience.
If you want to head into The Callisto Protocol's New Game Plus mode, you'll have to complete the game first, of course. After doing so, simply start a new game and reach the first Reforge Station, and you'll gain access to all of your weapons, upgrades, and Callisto Credits from your previous save.
That's not all the new update has added, of course. A couple of major improvements have been made, including a fix for a bug that caused players to take damage while vaulting over obstacles. That's not ideal for a horror game where even the slightest scratch could mean trouble, so it's good to see Striking Distance addressing this particular issue.
Other fixes include players missing out on an achievement, camera angles causing Jacob to phase through solid ground, and "general performance optimizations" across all platforms. It's not clear whether these improvements include changes to the PC version, which met with a particularly negative reception on launch due to numerous bugs and performance glitches. If you own the game on PC, it's worth heading back in to see if things are any better now.
The Callisto Protocol is a survival horror game strongly inspired by (and created by some of the team behind) Dead Space. It revolves around Jacob Lee, an escaped prison inmate who must plumb the depths of Jupiter's moon Callisto in order to discover its disturbing secrets. Before launch, the game met with controversy for allegedly asking players to see all of its death animations to achieve a platinum trophy (something the devs apparently later removed during development), as well as for comments made by Striking Distance regarding employee crunch.
You can check out The Callisto Protocol right now on PC, PlayStation consoles, and Xbox platforms.
