Dovetail Games has just announced Train Sim World 3, which will be releasing on September 6, 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. While there are other simulators that have players drive trucks, manage zoos, and construct, Train Sim World 3 might just be one of the more realistic and trendsetting simulator series out there. The newest incarnation will include new weather dynamics, longer routes, and a dedicated training center for both newcomers and experienced players. Lets take a look at it all, shall we?

What's new in Train Sim World 3?

The new weather system will give players volumetric skies powered by a new lighting system that aims to provide enhanced realism and immersion. Trains can now be driven through weather events such as snow, thunderstorms, or even leaves on the line, which will force players to pay attention and pose more of a challenge.

It might get dicey out there.

The training center will give players a place to learn how to drive trains on a brand-new route and will help ease players into the game. This is a good idea, because for games like Train Sim World 3 it's easy to get lost and confused without some sort of guide. Basically, while watching YouTube videos is always an option, it shouldn't be the only option.

If you own DLC from Train Sim World 2, you'll be happy to learn that you'll be able to carry all the routes and engines into Train Sim World 3, which should make transitioning over a smooth experience. Future DLC will also decouple trains from their routes, which will offer more freedom to those who want to use their trains outside of their intended setting. Before you get too excited, it's important to note that while the DLC from the previous game will be compatible, it will not include new features coming with Train Sim World 3. No snowstorms for older DLC, I'm afraid.

As for the price, there will be a Deluxe Edition available for $59.99 and four Starter Packs, each of which retail for $39.99 and come with different content. The Deluxe Edition can be preordered with a 10% discount and pre-purchasers will have access to the game four days early. It will also include a bonus decal pack to use within the livery editor within the Train Sim World Creators' Club user content hub if you're into that kind of thing.
