Today Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian Studios shared more details about the upcoming Patch 6 for the game, which will include much more than the previously announced improvement to romance.
We learn via the announcement made on the game's X (formerly Twitter) account that the update will weigh 21 GB, but you'll actually need a whopping 150 GB on PC to install it.
Those who are short on space are advised to fully uninstall the game and redownload and install the patched version.
A welcome quality-of-life change will let you dismiss a companion from the party simply by speaking to the companion you want to include in their place.
Shield Bash and Rebuke of the Mighty will finally be fixed and should trigger the correct saving throw.
Another interesting change is that dialogue triggered automatically will try to prioritize the player's avatar as the main speaker instead of companions, keeping the spotlight firmly on our chosen protagonist.
Baldur's Gate 3 is currently available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. While a physical deluxe edition has been announced in December and is coming for all platforms in the first quarter of this year, we don't yet know precisely when that will be.
The game has been massively popular among players and critics alike. If you're interested in the former, you can read our enthusiastic review which awarded the game with a flattering 9.5 out of 10.
If you'd rather hear from the latter, Baldur's Gate 3 has just passed a whopping half a million verified user reviews on Steam, and 96% of them are positive.
The game also won plenty of awards, triumphing at The Game Awards, the Golden Joystick Awards, and the Steam Awards. It has also been the most-played game on Steam Deck since its release. It's certainly one of the biggest success stories of 2023 and its victorious cavalcade doesn't seem to be close to stopping.
