Larian Studios' RPG Baldur's Gate 3 is extremely popular, but just how popular is it? A milestone passed on Steam certainly paints a positive picture.
We learn that the game has passed a whopping half a million verified user reviews on Steam, sitting precisely at 500,048 at the moment of this writing.
96% of them are positive, giving the game the coveted "overwhelmingly positive" review label on the platform.
Director of Publishing Michael Douse celebrated the achievement on X (formerly Twitter), also thanking Larian's community team.
Ty for 500,000+ Steam reviews. An insane number. I remember 9 years ago or so I used to look at games with that many reviews thinking how insane it was. Now we’ve hit that number all I can think is… thank fuck for our community team.
Baldur's Gate 3 launched on Steam in August of 2023 following roughly three years of early access, followed by a PS5 release in September, and finally a launch on Xbox Series X|S in December. We're still waiting for a physical Deluxe Edition that will be released for all platforms in the first quarter of this year.
The game immediately impressed many with its gameplay, freedom of action, writing, and much more, and our review certainly reflects this sentiment, having awarded Larian's labor of love with a near-perfect 9.5 out of 10.
We certainly aren't the only ones loving BG3, as it won Game of the Year honors at The Game Awards, the Golden Joystick Awards, and the Steam Awards. It's also been the most-played game on Steam Deck since its release.
Despite the game's well-documented qualities, Larian hasn't been sitting on laurels and has been consistently updating it. A big patch is expected this week, improving kisses just in time for Valentine's Day and promising many bug fixes.
Speaking of which, Larian just shared another look at the improvements coming with the patch today, showcasing a loving interaction between rivals Shadowheart and Lae'zel.
