Today Valve shared the most played games on its portable PC Steam Deck for the month of January 2024, and the results may or may not surprise you.
The ranking, shared on the Steam Deck's official X (formerly Twitter) account, lists the most played games of the month ordered by cumulative hours played.
Despite Palworld's massive and sudden success, Baldur's Gate 3 still came up on top, likely aided by the fact that it has been available since the beginning of the month.
Interestingly, Elden Ring is still near the top despite having been released a long time ago. Monster Hunter: World is also among the most-played games, while the newer Monster Hunter: Rise is nowhere to be seen. Cyberpunk 2077 closes the top-5.

If you're wondering, Baldur's Gate 3 has been the top-played game on Steam Deck every month literally since its release in August 2023, with Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077 also hovering in and around the top of the list for several months.
Monster Hunter: World reappeared at the bottom of the Top 20 in October 2023, and has been rising toward the top ever since, likely aided by the announcement of Monster Hunter: Wilds at The Game Awards.
Funnily, Larian Studios head Swen Vincke commented on X with the expectation that Palworld will manage to overtake Baldur's Gate 3 in February. It'll be interesting to see whether his prediction turns out to be correct.
It was a nice run - pretty sure Palworld is going to kick our butt next month
On top of PC, Baldur's Gate 3 is currently available for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Palworld is available only on PC and Xbox, but can also be found on Game Pass, where it has been very successful, enjoying the biggest launch on the service ever for a third-party game.
On the other hand, Larian has categorically denied the possibility of its game coming to Microsoft's subscription service.
