Apex Legends is ready to jump into their next phase of the games life cycle, with Season 2 details revealed by developer Respawn.
While revenue has begun to decline while in their first battle pass, their season 2 battle pass is poised to completely change up the game, as all of the points given for future changes are from fan feedback.
Essentially, season 2 will introduce a level up system to your in-game battle pass through daily and weekly challenges, as well as reduce the time it takes to progress to battle pass level 100. Three new legendary items will also be added to the battle pass levels, with a legendary item thrown in at every 25th level, including at purchase. According to Lee Horn, "Our goal is to have a nice balance of cool character exclusives and cosmetics for everyone (like weapon skins). The level 100 reward will be an evolving weapon skin with a special recolor version for those players who make it to level 110."
The badge system is also being replaced from the premium battle pass rewards track, and in its place will be new items from three new content categories. Finally, a big change is replacing the voice lines with Crafting Metal rewards. This will allow players to earn enough Crafting Metals (1,200 to be exact) to create a legendary item of their choice.
All of these changes for season 2 are geared towards making the grind and acquisition of items, cosmetics and more easier on the players. Along with this, Respawn is planning to special, limited time event for players currently enjoying season one.
The event, titled Legendary Hunt, will bring the following features to Apex Legends for two weeks:
Apex Elite Queue - Players who make it to the Top 5 in any match can take part in a select queue full of other Top 5 winners, but to keep playing in the Elite Queue players need to keep placing in the Top 5. Once per day, those who finish in the Top 5 of any level also earn an entire battle pass level.
Double XP Weekend - Starting Friday, June 7th at 10 A.M PST to Monday, June 10th at 10 A.M PST, players can earn double XP on base and battle pass progression.
Legendary Hunt Challenges, Rewards and Skins - Players can complete a set of limited time challenges to earn new Epic, Rare and Legendary skins, with new Legendary-hunt themed skins rotating through the in-game store every few days for a direct purchase. In addition to that bonus, players who already have the Wild Frontier Battle Pass will get a weapon skin, the Legendary Honored Prey R-301, while those who level up to level 15 before the end of the event receive the Wraith Night Terror skin.
Apex Legends is gearing up for some major changes, and it is hoping folks are willing to come along for the ride.
