PS Plus has got off to a pretty good start in 2024, with a solid January lineup of games from Focus Entertainment and Drinkbox.

Foamstars

Foamstars is a 4v4 multiplayer shooter that is Splatoon in all but name. Set in a collection of glitzy arenas, you will spray the arena with foam to dominate the battlefield, surfing on your foam to get around quickly, slow down other players, and kill them with your weapons.

From an elimination-based free-for-all mode, to a team deathmatch-style mode where one player becomes uber powerful after 7 kills in a match, there are a variety of different match types, in addition to a collection of different characters to choose from. Additionally, there are some single player challenges to test out your skills with the six characters and seasonal updates planned for at least the next year.

Overall, we enjoyed the game and had fun playing it at Summer Game Fest Play Days last year. However, as with most live-service games its longevity is still up in the air. You can read our full Foamstars preview here.

Rollerdrome

If multiplayer action isn't for you, then Rollerdrome offers a fantastic single-player experience set in a combat arena. Skating on rollerstakers, you engage in the brutal blood sport of killing enemies, machines, and other champions of the arena, all while pulling off skills and trickshots as you flip, jump and grind along rails.

It's a great title from the skating masters at Roll7, who also developed the OlliOlli series. The game is sat at a 79 on Metacritic.

Steelrising

Steelrising is a souls-like set in the French Revolution. Automatons have taken over the streets of Paris and as Aegis, you have to fight off incredible machines and technological marvels as you slay Louis XVI's army.

We enjoyed Steelrising in our review, giving the game a 7 out of 10 and saying "Steelrising never quite feels like a cohesive experience, but its warring halves of Soulslike combat and narrative RPG storytelling are compelling enough in and of themselves."

That covers everything we know about the PS Plus February 2024 games and when you can expect them to drop. Stay tuned for next month's lineup.
