If you're curious what's inside the Vernworth Vault in Dragon's Dogma 2, I'll walk you through where it is, how to get in, and what awaits you inside.
Unless you're exploring the Vernworth Castle, you may come across this massive, locked door, with no real clues as to how you get in. With the day/night cycle, there's a few ways to go about it.
Vernworth Vault Location
To get to the Vault, head through the main front door of the castle, to the left and then turn right at the boxes. From there, you'll head straight down until you hit the door. It requires a key to get inside...or some really good timing.
How to Unlock the Vault Door
There are a few ways to unlock the Vernworth Vault door, or to get past it:
- Unlock with the Vault Key - You can unlock the door using the Makeshift Vault Key, but you'll only have brief windows to use it.
- Wander In - Shortly after the sun sets, Disa will make her way to the vault and wander around a bit before leaving. You'll have to take care to avoid her inside, but you can unlock every chest without getting caught. (If you do you go to the Gaol)
Where to get the Makeshift Vault Key
The Makeshift Vault Key can be obtained near the Ancient Battleground west of Vernworth and Northeast of the Checkpoint Rest Town. If you're looking to make your way to the Sphinx in Dragon's Dogma 2, this will be obtained along the way, in a chest near a bell.
There's an NPC along the road that you'll bump into, who asks you to escort him to the crumbling castle above. When you get to the end of the escort quest, you'll get the Ancient Battleground Key, the Vault Key will be in the nearby chest. If you'd like to use the Ancient Battleground Key, it works on a door down the stairs slightly behind some boxes.
The Loot behind the Ancient Battleground door alone is pretty good: A few thousand gold, a Ferrystone, and the Inferno Edge (A duospear for the Mystic Spearhand Vocation.)
The other key, the Makeshift Vault key, can be used to unlock the Vault, if you don't want to just happen upon Disa.
Vernworth Vault Loot - What's Inside?
Getting into the vault is worth it. There are a few items that not only are tied to some achievements, but overall some solid loot.
- 20,000 Gold
- Daughter of the Evening Shield
- Wyrmhunter's Cloak
- Decayed Medusa Head
Aside from the easy gold, the shield is pretty solid (can be used against Medusa for the achievement), and the Cloak is a solid addition defense-wise.
