A Lovecraft-ian inspired survival horror comes in the form of The Sinking City, from developer Frogwares.
Play as a private investigator from the 1920s,, as he goes through the half-submerged city of Oakmont. Learn the truth about the cursed city, with its residents slowly being possessed and prone to madness while supernatural forces attempt to halt your progress completely. Investigate crimes, with each case having multiple pathways to being solved, in this vast open world that is explored both on land and underwater. Will you be able to uncover the truth, or will you succumb to the depths of insanity like the rest of Oakmont?
The Sinking City was originally published by BigBen Interactive, but a dispute between BigBen and developer Frogwares saw the game being pulled from most systems in mid-2020. Only the Nintendo Switch version is currently available, as it was published by Frogwares itself, though a settlement between the two companies has been reached, with The Sinking City coming back to store shelves for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One in the future.
