Welcome to The State of TechRaptor: February 2015 Edition, where I’ll break down the accomplishments of February and look to the future (March) so that everyone who reads TechRaptor can be informed of what we have going on!

The purpose of this is to really get our readers involved in our development so that you’re with us every step of the way as we grow. Your input is INCREDIBLY important to us as we grow, because we want TechRaptor to be a site for everyone.

Check out the video, and full breakdown, below!

February Events

8Chan Allegations that the IGF had “gotten to us” and silenced any discussion of the issues presented in the Pinsof Interview. This was completely false and unbased, and I addressed it here (worth a read!)

Blogger John Kelly also wrote an article about us, which accused us of allowing political and personal bias to influence our articles and how we operate. I addressed the issue in a post on our forums, as well as a stream with Mr. Kelly himself, in order to clear up the misconceptions. We have no bias or agenda to push, we just want to cover things that we find interesting, because we’re gamers and techies too!

Our official stance on #GamerGate, seen below, can be found in the FAQ of our About Us page!

We get this question a lot, and honestly – we’re Neutral in the debate. TechRaptor was started to be an alternative to game sites that were unethical and dishonest with their readers, so we gained prominence when #GamerGate started. With that said, our writers are not allowed to directly participate (Emailing advertisers, etc) in #GamerGate other than to talk with others about it online or share their thoughts.

Our new, Xenforo-powered, forums are live! We’ve named it the TechRaptor Community, which is exactly what we hope to foster around the site. We don’t just want to be a website that you can come to for unbiased news, reviews, and articles – but also a place to make friends and be part of an open and welcoming community. Join the forums, and help our Pack grow!

March 2015 – 2 year anniversary of our Founding!

That’s right, March 14th (not the 18th, woops!) marks our 2nd birthday! 2 years, and over 2.4 MILLION page views, over 2,600 articles, and we’re far from slowing down. Hell, we’re just getting started.

People accuse us of starting, or changing ourselves to mold with #GamerGate, but I’d like to point you to a tweet I made in 2013 that should speak for itself about my goals for TechRaptor from the start:

Honest reviews, and honest news and articles have been the goal from the very start, and we’ll stick to that as we grow. TechRaptor was founded on honesty, ethics, and a real enjoyment for games and tech…and that will never change.

Ethics Policy

That’s right, our Ethics policy is being re-done! We’ve had it publicly live for over 6 months, and myself and the staff of TechRaptor feel that it doesn’t do the site or our goals justice. So we’re about 75% done with a brand new Ethics Policy that has more policies laid out, and is broken down to be as easy to understand as possible. We want to make sure that it’s the best it can be!

Q&A Sessions

We’re going to be continuing these really fun Q&A events on YouTube every month! If you have a question, but can’t make it, feel free to email us or tweet #AskTechRaptor with your questions for us! We try and answer every single one for each session!

Website Re-Theme

We’re still working on this long and incredibly daunting project. We want to make sure that we get the best possible result, and add some really awesome new features to the site! Stay tuned as we continue working on this!

Have you checked out our Twitch Channel? You should! We have staff members streaming regularly now, and we seek to grow the channel to be much bigger! We play a wide variety of games, so check us out on Twitch!

Thank You!

Thank you for reading TechRaptor! While reading us a few times a week may not seem like much to you, it makes us ecstatic for the future. We’re so excited to be growing and developing into something that’s so much bigger than we thought we’d be at this day and time. We’re so proud to be your alternative source for unbiased news, reviews, and interviews – and we’ll go out of our way to continue to provide that content!
