It’s been a while since we last saw Kratos, the angriest man to ever walk the face of the earth and the afterlife, do his thing to various Greek deities, but a new rumor suggests that the tattooed heavy metal cover may leave the likes of Zeus for Odin God of War 4.
This rumor comes from Twitter user shinobi602, who in the past leaked information on the likes of Mass Effect: Andromeda and Battlefield: Hardline way before release. Yesterday, he tweeted out the following:
…to the halls of Valhalla.

This prompted another website called NerdLeaks to do some investigating on their own, and found some concept art from a former Sony Santa Monica artist that looked very much like it could have been for God of War 4. Here’s the kicker: since Nerdleaks started their investigation, their site has been taken down and Finnian MacManus’s own website that hosted his concept art has also disappeared completely. There was also an album on Imgur that people used to post the concept art to, but it seems that they, too, have disappeared as fast as they appeared. Gamespot, however, has one bit of a concept art they managed to salvage.
Get your tinfoil hats, I think we may have stumbled upon a conspiracy! Or not. This is, after all, nothing more but a rumor at this point, so you should take it with a gigantic grain of salt. All the evidence disappearing so quickly does sort of lend some credence towards the validity of the rumor, though.
I’m not the hugest fan of the franchise to begin with, not because of the gameplay (that’s tight as can be) but because of it being based on Greek mythology. Norse mythology is more my speed, so I am definitely hoping that this rumor proves to be close to the truth. Can’t wait to do some exceedingly violent things to some Viking Gods of old.
