Those with Discord might notice a big chance to their app - the anticipated launch of the global Discord Store beta, a new gaming storefront.

Last August, the chat app company announced they were launching a storefront to select audiences, with a curated selection of games such as The Banner Saga 3 and Dead Cells available to buy directly from the Discord Store. Now everyone will get to try it out for themselves with First on Discord time-exclusives, new Nitro features, and the universal library.

The announcement blog post released today said:

We want to make it easier for you to find games to play with your friends. Our curated selection, editorialized content, and surfacing of social information should help you figure out which games are right for you. No need to browse endless lists of anime titles — we make it easy to find something great to play.
Along with curated games (which can be bought on other storefronts), there's First of Discord titles, which are timed-exclusives to the Discord Store. There are seven current titles with more on the way, including Bad North and SINNER: Sacrifice for Redemption. You can read more about First on Discord and its titles from our article last month. Note, however, that some titles in the program like Minion Masters are already on Steam as well.

Discord also announced the inclusion of the Universal Library tab, which will allow you to launch any games downloaded on your computer through the Discord app. A scan will pick up the games you've downloaded and put them in the Discord app's game library.

Last but not least, Discord's premium service "Nitro" gets a few more perks. For a monthly fee of $9.99, in addition to chatroom benefits, you can play 60 games for free - although Discord says some games might leave Nitro at some point, and others will join it as other services do with rotating lineups, like Xbox Gamepass. Fret not, Nitro games are saved on their cloud. Tooth and Tail and Metro: Last Light Redux are among the games that Nitro members can enjoy. Nitro Classic is also available for $4.99, those who just want chatroom benefits can go with that option as well.

If you want to try out the Discord Store for yourself, boot up Discord, click the home icon and click "Store" from the menu on the left side.

Are you going to buy any games on the Discord Store? Can it compete with bigger names like Steam and GoG? Let us know in the comments below!
