Idea Factory’s Neptunia series has lent its characters to a variety of gaming genres (musou, card battle, turn-based tactics . . .) and now the franchise is branching out into MMO territory. The new game is called Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online and is developed by Compile Heart and Tamsoft. The hack n’ slash adventure will be available in Europe and North America on PlayStation 4 and Steam this winter.

Those familiar with the Neptunia franchise know that the character Vert is an avid online gamer. It seems this new entry into the series has transported the four CPU’s to the fantasy games that the Goddess Green Heart loves to play. The main protagonists are translated into traditional MMORPG classes such as Paladin, Priest, Mage and Thief and will face game glitches and beta testers along their way.

While Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online is styled after the MMO genre, it’s actually an action RPG. Although the game will allow players to team up and chat with other players online, it isn’t a massive multiplayer online game. Go on four person dungeon raids in which you can choose which character you’d like to control or join other real life players to fight harder enemies and get more loot.

The CPU’s and CPU Candidates get new looks and new abilities in this new title. A plethora of cosmetic gear will be customizable to create just the look you want. New “Awakening Skills” give characters powerful abilities and multiple skills can be mapped to any face button.

The fictional MMO “4 Goddesses Online” starts with the premise:

“Long ago when the world was nothing but a void, the goddesses created Leanverde, the World Tree. The mighty Earth and the majestic oceans were born of Leanverde’s sprout, and the goddesses bestowed upon this world the name of Alsgard.”

The real goddesses of Gamindustri must enter the game to retrieve the creators of Leanverde and defeat the Demon King.

The release of Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses in North America and Europe marks its debut on console this winter as a physical and digital release. The game will be available for both PS4 and PC via Steam simultaneously in both regions.
