This Nightingale Cooking and Food Guide will teach you all about getting your hands on food in the game, as well as the best ways to process the food into something edible that will restore much more of your hunger meter.

If Nightingale isn't floating your eldritch goblin, then you may wish to consider checking out our starter guide for another survival-crafting title, Forever Skies. You can also try out our coverage of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth if you're in a more RPG sort of mood.

How to Get Food in Nightingale

Food is one of the most essential parts to survival in Nightingale, right alongside shelter and warmth. Getting your hands on food as the game starts out is relatively simple, with a few sources of food immediately obvious to you.

You can pick berries from various bushes, depending on your biome, or you can take down prey/predator animals in your biome and cook their meat. In the early stages, that's pretty much all you can do, but later on down the line, you'll be able to farm your own ingredients and cook them up nice, for which we have a stellar Farming Guide to check out if you're in an agriculatural mood.

Best Way to Get Food in Nightingale

When the game starts out, your food resources will be preciously guarded and horded, but later down the line, you'll find that they're less precious than they used to be.

The best way to get your hands on food is to unlock your first Spyglass, which we can help you with in our Nightingale Unlockable guide. Once equipped, you can scan the horizon for nearby animals to chase down for food.

If you're hoping for an easy meal, aim for an aggressive animal like the Wolves or Pigs that inhabit most woods biomes. They come to you, unlike deer who run away, making them much easy to cut up and cook.

As you go through the game, you'll have the oppertunity to buy or find recipes for various items, though you'll also need new crafting stations to create most of the good stuff. The list below features all the recipes we've found so far, and what you'll need to craft it. Check back frequently as we keep updating this list.
