Fans of Disney Lorcana have some potential good news this holiday season. Ravensburger and The Walt Disney Company have announced their Disney Lorcana reprint, meant to address the quickly vanishing inventory on store shelves, will be coming this holiday season.
The revised Disney Lorcana reprint date
According to an official press release, the date for the Disney Lorcana reprint has been moved to holiday 2023. This is a notable change since Ravensburger originally planned to have reprints of the game's first set released in Q1 2024.
In business terms, this makes a lot of sense. Disney Lorcana has been a major commercial success, selling out of both retail and hobby stores. And with the holiday season right around the corner, having more product on the shelves means more profit.
In addition, the Disney Lorcana reprint will include more than just the first set. This new wave of product will contain both The First Chapter as well as the recently announced Rise of the Floodborn set.
As for how much product will be included in this reprint, an official Ravensburger spokesman stated the following:
"We cannot discuss quantities, but our goal has always been to get as much product into the hands of fans as possible, and we are continuing to work with our suppliers to increase production to better meet demand as quickly as possible,"
This spokesman did confirm that this reprint will include both starter decks as well as booster packs.
Despite some alleged theft of gameplay ideas, Disney Lorcana has been a major hit in the card game space. As for whether or not it will supplant its peers, Magic The Gathering, the Pokemon TCG, etc., is something only time will tell.
The Disney Lorcana reprint will be coming to both hobby and retail stores in North America on Holiday 2023, followed by stores in Europe on January 2024.
