In October 2019, Wizards of the Coast announced their Ponies: The Galloping Secret Lair. It was the first crossover between Magic: The Gathering and the beloved animated series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Now, Ponies: The Galloping 2 is here.

The Ponies: The Galloping 2 Announcement

According to the official Magic website, the Ponies: The Galloping 2 Secret Lair will be coming out as part of Extra Life 2023. As such, fifty percent of each purchase of this Secret Lair will go to both Extra Life and the Seattle Children's Hospital Autism Center.

The Ponies: The Galloping 2 Secret Lair will contain four cards. Each card is a different member of The Mane 6.

The power of friendship leads to some silly card effects.

Applejack is a 2 Colorless 1 White 1 Green cost creature with 4/4. Her unique ability, Family Gathering, lets you place a toy you own on the battlefield as a 2/2 creature token. Yes, its color and appearance determine its color and creature type in-game.

Fluttershy costs 1 colorless, 1 White, and 1 Green. While she is a 0/4, she has Defender and Flying. She can also put +1/+1 tokens on any creature that has a tail, and stare down an enemy creature. If a creature is being stared down, they can't attack or block.

Pinkie Pie only costs 1 Red and 1 White to play and is 2/2. Every time you cast a spell with a smile in the artwork, you create a tapped Treasure token. And there's Everypony Invited, which lets you throw a party with every creature you control.

Lastly, there's Rainbow Dash. She costs 1 Colorless, 1 Red, 1 White, and is also a 2/2. In addition to Flying and Haste, Rainbow Dash can make things cooler. Every time a flying and hasted creature attacks, you get 20% cooler.

This is important because once you are 100% cool, you can use her Sonic Rainboom ability. This adds one of every color mana to your mana pool and lets you draw a card.

Paring these cards with the first Ponies: The Galloping Secret Lair, it is entirely possible to have a working deck containing The Mane 6.

This isn't the first time a beloved Hasbro property has crossed over with Magic: The Gathering. As part of the release of The Brothers' War set, special double-sided cards were released featuring Transformers characters.

The Ponies: The Galloping 2 Secret Lair was illustrated by Rudy Siswanto, John Thacker, and Anna Steinbauer. It is currently available for preorder right now in both Foil (MSRP $49.99) and Non-Foil (MSRP $39.99)
