Fans of the officially licensed Middle-earth tabletop RPG, The One Ring, have had to deal with some struggles lately. The One Ring Second Edition was announced back in 2019 by publisher Cubicle 7. The publisher then canceled this project and ceased publication of The One Ring materials. But thanks to a very successful Kickstarter campaign, Free League Publishing has revived the acclaimed tabletop RPG. Now, The One Ring Second Edition is available for pre-order.

According to an official press release, The One Ring Second Edition's pre-orders will include the following. First, there is the Core Rulebook. This will feature brand new streamlined rules of The One Ring tabletop RPG experience, all while adhering to the rich atmosphere and dense lore of JRR Tolkien's Middle-earth. It is set twenty years after Bilbo Baggins' journey to the Lonely Mountain and back, which is just fifty years before the rise of Sauron in Fellowship of the Ring. In addition to revised rules and a brand new art style, this Core Rulebook will include lore and setting information for the lands of Eriador, a land set to the west of the Misty Mountains.

Second for The One Ring Second Edition is a Starter Set. This is effectively a prewritten adventure with basic rules for brand new players. It is set in The Shire and will include characters that certain fans of Tolkien's lore will recognize like Drogo Baggins and Esmeralda Took. In addition, it will include a compendium covering the four Farthings of the Shire, all the way from Greenholm and the White Downs in the west to Buckland and the Old Forest in the east.

Finally, there is a Gamemaster screen, cloth maps, custom dice, and a Rivendell Compendium. This compendium will include maps and information about this land of the elves, including the iconic Elrond, as well as new rules for making a High Elf player-hero. As for the cloth maps, they are roughly 100 x 78 cm (that's about 3 ft. x 2.5 ft), and will include both The Shire and Eriador. Both maps are of high quality fabric and will be in limited supply so hurry while you can.

All of these products for The One Ring Second Edition can be pre-ordered right now on Free League Publishing's website. A complete bundle will set you back about $118, while the cloth maps will cost $42 each. Meanwhile the Core Rulebook and Starter Set will cost you $50 each, with the Rivendell compendium and GM Screen costing you $30. However, if you are interested in digital PDFs of these books and materials, they are also available on DriveThruRPG.
