Ever wanted to run, jump and fly in a world just for you? Windlands is that type of game, giving you freedom of movement and a mechanic which allows you to access new parts of the level by climbing and flinging yourself into the sky. Windlands currently has support of DK1, DK2 and now even has a full screen mode so you don't even need an Oculus Rift to experience this game. Windlands is being created by Cyber Fox Games.

Set in a desert oasis region when you start the game you are in a cave, once you walk out of that cave you can see many large towers circled around a central tower. Your aim in windlands is to collect golden triangles from the tops of each of these towers and then head towards the center tower where a door will open allowing you to rise to the top and finish the game.

Some things that this game really has going for it is the varying levels of cell shadeing which gives the world a fun and cartoonish look. On top of that the design of various landmarks in the world, such as the large robot looking thing with trees growing from it, you can see have been cleverly designed which is a must for the player to be able to use and interact with them. The verticality of this vast and open world is the most important part of Windlands as to climb the tower you need a way to get higher, the answer to this is dual grapples. At any time you are able to fire out a left and a right grapple, these aren't able to grab onto everything, that will latch onto any green scenery such as trees and grass. Usually the higher up you get in each of the towers around the world the less greenery is available creating bigger and better challenges for you.

With the Oculus Rift this game gives you an incredible sense of flying as you soar through the air and look around you, if you can get that high of course. The depth of field allows you to better time jumps and landings so that you can ensure you always land where you want to. When playing Windlands on the Oculus Rift I get the rush of climbing up high towers and the adrenaline involved but others that I have shown the game to sadly got motion sickness that is still plaguing some users of the Oculus Rift so be warned if you plan on trying it out.
