Microsoft has officially unveiled the new Xbox 20th Anniversary controller. Intended to pay homage to the OG Xbox, which launched back in 2001, the controller sports a similar design to the peripheral for that console. It's launching this November.

What can we expect from the Xbox 20th Anniversary controller?

As the name implies, we're coming up on the 20th anniversary of the original Xbox controller. Yesterday, Microsoft tweeted a teaser image for a controller meant to celebrate this occasion. The tweet consisted of the text "20 years of play in your hands", accompanied by a darkened image of a controller with just the Xbox button lit up in the center. Now, the company has officially unveiled the controller in all its 2001-style glory, complete with a translucent finish and a nostalgic green Xbox button, as well as a lovely little "20" logo in the bottom-right corner. In addition to the controller, we're also getting a brand new headset, a limited-edition Razer controller charging stand, and some minimalist apparel so you can show your love for all things Xbox.

The new Xbox 20th Anniversary hardware evokes the classic circuit-style aesthetic of the original Xbox controller.

Both the controller and the headset will launch on November 15th. This makes sense given that the OG Xbox launched on that very date back in 2001. Function-wise, the controller and headset are identical to the standard Xbox Series X|S controller and official Xbox headset, just with that snazzy translucent design harking back to the classic Xbox look. The Razer 20th Anniversary quick-charge stand is also the same as the standard option the company offers, but with a fetching 20th Anniversary logo across the front. We don't have a release date for the stand yet, so make sure to keep an eye on the Razer website for more info.

A busy time for Xbox

The Xbox 20th Anniversary celebrations come at a rather busy time for the brand. Earlier this month, Xbox announced it would be expanding its accessibility features and programs, adding new elements to the Xbox ecosystem to ensure that those with disabilities or different approaches to gaming would be included. More good news for Microsoft came last month, when Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick seemingly accidentally leaked the subscriber count for Xbox Game Pass, which the company normally doesn't make public.

Back 4 Blood is one of the games coming to the (apparently rather healthy) Xbox Game Pass service this month.

The Xbox 20th Anniversary controller and headset launch on November 15th. Both of them are currently available for pre-order and will set you back $69.99 apiece. If you're after the 20th Anniversary clothing, you can grab that from the Xbox store right now. Looking for a less pricey alternative to this new controller?
