Nacon and developer Brave Lamb have announced that wartime field hospital sim War Hospital is being delayed beyond 2023.
The game, which was originally scheduled to launch this year, will now arrive in the first quarter of 2024, according to a Steam post released earlier today.
Brave Lamb says the delay will help it make its game "as deep and realistic as possible" while retaining the respect needed to depict a wartime hospital with dignity.
According to Brave Lamb, the complexity of developing a game in which the objective is to save people turned out to require a little more time than the studio had previously thought, and the extra time will allow the devs to "refine details, balance the game, and fix more bugs".
If you're unfamiliar with War Hospital, it's a strategy sim with real-time elements that lets you manage your own World War I field hospital.
You'll need to treat patients as they come in, diagnose their problems accurately, and respond to emergent threats coming from the fact that the war is still raging around you.
Together with games like Last Train Home, War Hospital aims to depict the horrors of war realistically and soberly rather than presenting a power fantasy.
The focus is on realism and emotional impact; you might not have the resources to treat every patient accordingly, and you may need to make some very hard decisions while managing your hospital.
In any case, it's going to be a little while longer before you can get your hands on War Hospital, as no new release date has been revealed, unfortunately.
War Hospital is now set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S sometime in the first part of 2024.
Stay tuned for more info on this one, including a potential release date, as and when we get it.
