THQ Nordic and Ashborne Games have revealed the Last Train Home release date.

The gritty wartime strategy game will launch for PC in November, and you can play a demo for it right now on Steam if you want to get a feel for it.

Last Train Home takes place after the conclusion of the First World War and follows a group of Czechoslovak soldiers as they travel homeward.

Unfortunately, the soldiers are quickly caught up in a civil war between the Red and White Armies of Russia, and they must manage their morale and resources as they come to terms with the fact that the fighting is not yet over for them.

You can take a look at the release date trailer for Last Train Home, which also gives a flavor for the game's strategic combat, right here.

If you can imagine This War of Mine or Frostpunk meeting Company of Heroes, with the two nodding stoically and agreeing to an armistice on the battlefield, that's roughly Last Train Home's vibe.

This is very much not war as imagined by fantasists; according to the Steam blurb, you'll be surrounded by "the horrors of war" at all times, with victory in Last Train Home's real-time battles depending on superior tactics and planning rather than brute force.

While you wait for Frostpunk 2 to materialize - and, indeed, if Company of Heroes 3 didn't quite scratch your RTS itch - this one should be perfect as the chill of winter sets in.

No console release has been announced for Last Train Home, though, so you'll have to content yourself with playing it on PC if you're interested in this tale of Czechoslovak soldiers' struggle for survival.

Last Train Home launches for PC via Steam on November 28th. Stay tuned for more on this one.
