Today Vanillaware announced that it will host the "Vanillaware 20th Anniversary Fes" event in Japan.
The event celebrates the 20th anniversary of the formation of the developer known for its beautiful art. It will be hosted in Tokyo on March 25 and 26, 2023, and in Osaka (where Vanillaware's headquarters are located) on April 1 and 2. It's worth mentioning that the event comes a bit late, as the actual anniversary was in 2022.
Visitors will be able to attend an exhibition featuring art by Yukiko Hirai and merchandise celebrating Vanillaware's games will also be available to purchase on-site.
The event will feature Princess Crown, Odin Sphere, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, Dragon's Crown, Dragon's Crown Pro, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, GrimGrimoire, GrimGrimoire OnceMore, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, and Grand Knights History. It's worth mentioning that Princess Crown was released by Atlus before the foundation of Vanillaware, but it's the game that brought the developer's founder George Kamitani under the spotlight.
At the moment, we don't know whether new announcements will be made during the celebrations, but Vanillaware has an upcoming fantasy game in the works that was teased a long time ago within the paid demo of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Times are certainly mature for its reveal, but there's no information on when exactly it'll be showcased.
In the meanwhile, Nippon Ichi Software will soon release GrimGrimoire OnceMore on PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. It's a remaster of Vanillaware's 2007 real-time strategy game GrimGrimoire for PlayStation 2. It'll include plenty of new elements and quality-of-life tweaks, alongside higher-resolution visuals and wide-screen aspect ratio support. It'll launch in the west on April 4, 2023.
Of course, if anything new about the beloved developer's plans is officially announced, you can expect full coverage here on TechRaptor. For now, we have to wait and see. In the meanwhile, you can check out the event's official artwork below, celebrating some of the studio's beloved heroines.
