Squad-based medieval RTS The Valiant has a console release date at last. Publisher THQ Nordic has revealed that the tactical epic, which takes place in 13th-century Europe and the Middle East, is making its way to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on July 11th.
When The Valiant was first revealed in May last year, THQ Nordic said the game would arrive on both current-gen and last-gen consoles. If a new trailer is to be believed, however, those plans appear to have changed, at least in the short-term; the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game are nowhere to be seen, unfortunately. You can take a look at the new PS5 and Xbox Series X|S release date trailer right here.
The Valiant tells the story of ex-crusader Theoderich von Akenburg, who's brought back into the fold of war in order to put a stop to his former brother-in-arms' relentless quest for an eldritch artifact known as the Rod of Aaron. Theoderich will journey across Europe and the Middle East, meeting a disparate cast of warriors and heroes with whom he will forge unbreakable bonds.
Gameplay-wise, The Valiant offers 15 missions of single-player squad-based RTS goodness, as well as both co-op and competitive multiplayer modes to test your mettle. You'll control hero squads and auxiliary squads with various units available to you, including swordsmen, cavalry units, and more. Hero squads can also be upgraded with different skill trees, allowing you to choose what kind of playstyle you want to adopt.
You'll be able to get your hands on The Valiant on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on July 11th. The game will be available on both platforms for $24.99. If you're a PC player, then you can grab it already on Steam, as well as the Epic Games Store and GOG. Stay tuned for more info on this one.
