Today EA Sports released an extensive video of the upcoming UFC 5 focusing on the new visual features you can expect from the next game of the MMA franchise.

We have heard about the new graphics features of the game before and we have seen gameplay, but today we hear directly from art director Kirk Gibbons as he breaks down every feature while also showing it off.

We hear how the FrostBite Engine influences the graphics with new dynamic lighting and rendering. Gibbons claims that the team has been comparing real-life UFC presentations with the game, and it was hard to tell the difference.

We hear about the new GPU-bsed particle system that allows the developers to render individual particles of blood and sweat.

Not only the blood is visible on the fighters, but it also builds up on the mat dynamically depending on how the fight goes.

Animations have been reworked, on top of physics-based and procedural animations to make strikes feel more impactful. The reworked facial deformation effect and particles also help, on top of the audio.

We hear a lot about improved fighter likeness, including the hair, which uses a strand-based system, which boosts realism both in movement and lighting,

A "huge amount of effort" has also been put into the look of the skin of each fighter, on top of the "Shapeshifter" technology that helps with body deformation.

We then see the improved walkouts, that are "more authentic than ever" thanks to the new facial animation system, FrostBite cameras, and dynamic lighting.

The improved visuals also shine in the new KO replay system, which puts the dynamic FrostBite cameras to good use. You can see everything in the video below.

UFC 5 launches for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 27, 2023.
