Bandai Namco has revealed that Tekken 8 has smashed through a major sales barrier after being released just over a month ago.

Speaking via X (formerly known as Twitter), the studio revealed earlier today that Tekken 8 has hit 2 million sales, so it's safe to say this latest continuation of the Mishima saga has been a resounding success.

According to a press release, that 2 million figure includes a million sales around the world "on [Tekken 8's] first day of release", which is pretty impressive.

Bandai Namco promises that there's plenty ahead when it comes to future content for Tekken 8.

The Tekken World Tour esports event is due to start on April 13th, and it'll feature Tekken 8 for the first time. Not only that, but the Tekken Shop, which will offer costumes, avatar skins, and more, is set to debut soon "as part of regular updates".

Of course, Tekken 8's first Season Pass roadmap is also still in effect, with DLC character Eddy Gordo on the way sometime this spring and three more playable characters due over the next three quarters.

That, of course, is all in addition to what's already on offer in Tekken 8, including a story so epic that Bandai Namco enlisted Scottish legend Brian Cox to get you ready to experience it.

If you're not familiar with Tekken 8, it's the eighth mainline installment in the long-running Tekken series of fighting games.

The latest game in the franchise features familiar favorites like Lee Chaolan, Kuma, and Shaheen duking it out with new fighters like Reina and Victor Chevalier.

You can check Tekken 8 out right now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you want to get a feel for how the game shakes out, you can check out our very own Erren's preview here, and you can also read her interview with some of its key personnel here.
