Star Citizen Lorville

Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games revealed a couple of new videos about the growing space simulator and its upcoming content.

The first video shows the centerpiece of the upcoming Alpha 3.19 version, which is the overhauled city of Lorville on planet Hurston. Not only what we get to see is definitely spectacular, but we get the confirmation that Alpha 3.19 is scheduled for next month.

One of the most interesting and welcome elements of this overhaul is that restricted zones have been changed to be as low as possible, allowing players to fly between buildings and opening some interesting racing opportunities.

Hopefully, the lessons learned from the rather rocky launch of Alpha 3.18 will help us have a smoother experience with the next major update.

A second video focuses on an extensive interview with Animation Director Steve Bender, speaking about his work on the game. You can check both out below.

In the meanwhile, Star Citizen's growing crowdfunding campaign continues to make progress and the overall tally has recently passed $567 million ($567,623,421 at the moment of this writing) pledged from backers.

The number of registered users has also recently passed 4.5 million and it's now at 4,557,427 albeit not all of them are paying since many register accounts to access the popular free fly events that provide a chance to test the game without pledging any money. According to the latest information that creative director Chris Roberts himself shared in October 2022, 1.7 million players are actually paying customers. Of course, that number is a few months old, so it's probably higher now.

Full disclosure: the author of this post has backed Star Citizen all the way back when its crowdfunding was first launched in September 2012.
