If you're a fan of reading, then you may be happy to know that Marvel's Avengers, the upcoming action game by Square Enix, is getting a book prequel.
The book is titled Marvel's Avengers: The Extinction Key and will take place before the events of the game. It follows the five Avengers you'd expect: Captian America, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and Black Widow. However, both Doctor Strange and Brother Voodoo will also be playing a role in the book, which may give a hint towards future DLC characters for the full game. The book has the organization Zodiac attempting to acquire a mysterious weapon called the Zodiac Key.
The book will launch on March 30th, 2020, and is being written by Greg Keyes. This isn't the first time Keyes has written a book based on video games. In the past, he wrote a pair of novels set in the world of The Elder Scrolls, with The Infernal City and its sequel Lord of Souls. Keyes has also written books set in the world of both Star Wars and Babylon 5.
Additionally, an art book is also going to be launching later next year. Marvel's Avengers: The Art of the Game will be launching on September 1st, 2020, letting you get a look at all the art that went into the game and how it looked before development. Considering the game's long development cycle of mostly silence, this may be a rather interesting look at the development process we wouldn't normally get.
According to Square Enix, there are more plans to publish more books, both fiction and non-fication, based on Marvel's Avengers.
