Sony has announced that it will update the PS5's Game Help feature to include user-generated content later this year, allowing players to view other players' hints on how to complete challenges in games.

In a new PlayStation Blog post, Sony says the feature will be called Community Game Help. It'll expand the current Game Help library and will incorporate "videos that are automatically generated" from other players' gameplay footage.

When this feature launches, the Game Help feature will no longer require a PlayStation Plus subscription to access, either; it'll be free to all PS5 players, whether or not they're signed up to PS Plus.

The new PS5 Game Help feature will be free to everyone when it lands.

If you're worried about your footage getting picked up by Sony automatically, you needn't be. Players will have to opt into their footage being used for Community Game Help, so if you don't want anyone to see your perfect Dragon's Dogma 2 quest run, you're safe.

Developers can also continue to create their own Game Help videos, and as ever, this feature will only be available in select games.

Essentially, Community Game Help will work the same way as the regular Game Help feature does right now; you'll be able to bring up the Game Help window from the PS5's Home menu, and you'll be able to see which clips are user-generated and which ones come from the developers themselves.

You'll also be able to rate how useful the hint videos have been, which Sony says will allow it to "curate informative help content for players".

Your gameplay may be published as a Game Help video if you opt into Sony's new program.

The PS5 Game Help feature has been available since the console's launch. It was originally shown off as part of the PS5 UI reveal back in October 2020

At the moment, it's only possible for developers to upload Game Help hint videos, so it'll be nice to see the process democratized. Hopefully, the library of supported games expands as well.

Stay tuned for more info on when this PS5 update is scheduled to land, as well as all other things PS5-related.
