Today Sega revealed the opening animation of the upcoming Sonic game Sonic Superstars via a new trailer, and it looks really cool.
The animation is pretty much all you may expect from classic 2D Sonic, showcasing the Blue Blur and his friends as they run around, beat stuff with punches and hammers, pilot biplanes, and generally do Sonyc stuff, only to face their enemies at the end.
Sonic Superstars appears to follow the successful blueprint of Sonic Mania, but evolves the graphics without really losing the classic charm that players are used to.
You can check it out below.
Sonic Superstars is coming in Fall 2023 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can read our hands-on preview in which our Robert Scarpinito mentioned that it "really lives up to its tagline, New Thrills. Classic Feels.”
He also added that "there’s a lot about it that hearkens back to the classic 2D days. But the added powers, the new bonus stages, and the fresh environmental gimmicks give the game a sense of newness".
