Titan Forge Games has announced Smite 2, the followup to the deity-filled action MOBA Smite. It's headed to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S sometime in the future.

The game was revealed at today's Smite World Championships and will, according to Titan Forge, aim to distil "10 years of learnings into a new experience" for players.

Smite 2 will be built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, and it'll feature new physics-based abilities for Gods like Ymir, as well as a refined UI, improved audio and spell effects, and much more.

Smite 2 sounds like it's pretty much a ground-up rework of the popular action MOBA.

Titan Forge is also promising "new God pantheons, kit refinements, gameplay changes and overhauled Relic and Item systems", so Smite 2 really will be a ground-up rework of the original Smite.

New power systems in the form of Strength and Intelligence aim to provide "more nuanced and varied playstyles", and a reimagined Item Store looks to simplify item builds for players and improve learning curves for new Smite 2 players.

If you're a Smite player, you'll be pleased to know that every gem you've previously spent in the game will be converted into the Legacy Gem currency in Smite 2.

In practical terms, this means you'll get the chance to buy unique skins, badgets, and cross-gen skins for both Smite and its sequel, with all post-2024 Smite skins being cross-generational.

Given how popular Smite is and how many collaborations and crossovers it's enjoyed in recent months, it probably won't come as a surprise to learn that Titan Forge intends to support both Smite and its sequel simultaneously.

Once Smite 2 launches, servers for Smite will remain available, so you'll be able to play whichever one takes your fancy.

Smite 2 is set for launch sometime in the future on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. You can sign up to test the game out in alpha on the official website, as well as via Steam Playtest. Stay tuned for more on this.
