2D roguelite platformer Skul: The Hero Slayer has reached a major sales milestone almost three years after its initial release, developer Southpaw Games and publisher Neowiz have announced.

According to a new post on the game's Steam pageSkul: The Hero Slayer sales have reached two million, which the studios describe as a "huge record".

Last year, Skul: The Hero Slayer managed to reach the one million sales mark, so we can presumably expect the game to reach around three million sales next year if it keeps up this pace.

Roguelite Skul: The Hero Slayer has proven a surprise hit.

Southpaw and Neowiz say they're grateful to everyone who's played Skul: The Hero Slayer and given "tremendous support" to the game until now.

As a thank you, the game will be available for 50% off all the way until January 18th.

If you're not familiar with Skul: The Hero Slayer, it's a 2D action roguelite platformer that sees you hacking, and indeed slashing, your way through a series of medieval fantasy-themed levels as the titular Skul.

The game's key selling point is the ability to swap classes and ability sets by picking up and using a variety of different heads, with the specific heads you encounter differing between playthroughs.

The game was originally released in early 2021, earning a rather positive review from, well, me. I thought it was a solid little roguelite with some neat ideas to offer.

Several free updates followed, some of which added major new content like extra enemies to battle and new story content to experience.

Back in November, Skul: The Hero Slayer received its first piece of major paid DLC in the form of the Mythology Pack, which brings a host of new skulls to try out.

If you're intrigued by Skul: The Hero Slayer, you can pick it up right now on PC via Steam, as well as PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
