Paradox Tectonic released another video of the upcoming simulation game and The Sims rival Life by You.
This time around we take a look at relationships and how they're governed by like/dislike, romance, and chemistry bars. You can actually simply cheat and modify the relationship between two characters however you like.
Interestingly, you can also create one-sided love, as the bars are individual. Any pair of characters will have two sets of bars, and each set governs how one character feels about the other.
We see once more how you can control every single character in town, switching at will.
The next section of the video provides another look at the character customization (which is still work-in-progress). Interestingly, it appears that we can move these customization bars to rather extreme values.
You can watch the video below.
Life by You will be released in early access for PC on March 5, 2024. It was recently delayed by several months following the initial announcement, had the launch pinned for this month.
If you're unfamiliar with the game, it's the labor of love of a relatively new studio helmed by Rod Humble, known for his works on The Sims and Second Life.
If you want to learn more about Life by You, you can read my own preview, describing my experience with the game at Gamescom in Cologne. It definitely has the potential to be a serious competitor for The Sims series. Of course, the jury is still out on whether it'll level up to said potential.
