Earlier this year, Netflix announced that we should expect The Witcher TV show to launch this fall. While we still don't have an exact date for the premier on Netflix, the streaming company did release an official two minute teaser for the upcoming show.

In the teaser, we get our first look at Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia in action since 2018. This trailer also marks the first time we hear dialogue from key characters like the Witcher himself, as well as Ciri and Triss Merigold.
The teaser features several key settings from the books, including Brokilon Forest (home to a number of dryads), likely Aretuza, a school for sorceresses, and possibly even Blaviken. The latter town is where Geralt gains the notorious title as "The Butcher of Blaviken." Last but not least, we see Geralt of Rivia preparing to fight a deadly, spider-like beast while under the effects of his Witcher potions. Potions contain dangerous toxins which cause noticeable effects to Geralt's face, seen in both the games and in this teaser.
So far, fans of the books are likely happy to know that The Witcher is remaining faithful to its source material. Conversely, several scenes that are not in the books are seen in the teaser. This includes appearances of Yennifer, with a disfigured face and body. While it is mentioned in the books that Yennifer once looked this way, this moment would have happened before the book's timeline.
While we don't have the exact date for The Witcher's premier, it looks like the show is coming along well in production.
Quick Take
The Witcher series is my favorite line of books, and so I find myself to be protective over the IP more than I would like. Like many, I was apprehensive at first about this show. For now, the teaser looks very good and it has left me pleased. Henry Cavill looks great as Geralt. Many of the scenes in the trailer look how I imagined them from the books, which is very exciting. What are your thoughts on this teaser for The Witcher? Let us know in the comments below!
